Personality: Mello can, in many ways be described as the exact opposite of Near, and L. Unlike them, he doesn't lack social skills. He comes off to be a very rash, and emotional person acting on whim most of the time without thinking things through. Being the person he is, this does not only make him dangerous but also unpredictable to everyone around him. He once was even known to scar a shinigami.

[Inferiority Complex|Obsessive|]
Mello has always shown signs of being obsessive, in a constant struggle with Near to be number one. He will do anything to reach his goal, even if that means resorting to killing people. By capturing Kira before Near can, he's hoping to wrestle away the title of number one for himself. Unlike other people who suffer from an Inferiority Complex, he didn't have an extreme Anti-social personality. Also, his complex toward over-enlarging Near has distorted Mello’s own personality growth.

He often disregards the law, but this does not mean he has stooped to the same level of being a criminal as Light-- But he is a criminal none the less. Despite his inferiority to Near, Mello still manages to become a major threat to people. Unlike Near he is also quick on deciding what to do in sticky situation. When the plan comes to him, and it is time to take action he will disregarding who happened to be in his way. But that does not mean he would just throw away innocent peoples lives, he is not pure evil and does not intend for some people to die when they get in his way. He also seems to show a general initiative to act on what he thinks it right, to act upon his own sense of Justice.

[Emotions]
The thing that Mello lacks in is self control over his emotions. He may be one of the most rash, blunt, and confrontational person you would wind up meeting in the series. He's not the person that would be afraid to say 'Yes, you in fact look fat in that dress.' He doesn't care much for other peoples feelings, and could come off rather selfish because of it. This is why I've come to think that he wouldn't be good in a romantic relationship. To some people the only thing he would know is being mean, but don't get me wrong, he isn't -just- evil... there can be a nice side to him if every thing is going as planned.


History: [Beginning]
L was known to be the best detective in the world. He handled cases all over the world, usually dealing with things the police and FBI could not deceiver. One such case would be the Kira case, but that would be known about at a later date. Mihael Keehl, more commonly known as Mello, was an orphan. Nothing is revealed about his past or how he had been brought to Wammy's House. Wammy's was an orphanage that raised especially smart children to become L's heir once he died.
[Second Best]
Mello was always in tight competition with Wammy's top student, Near. He was the perfect candidate to become L. No matter what, Near was always at the top. Mello's competitive instincts drove him to be better than the albino child, though nothing could seem to make him smarter. Mello was everything Near wasn't. He was more out-spoken, emotional, darker, more active, and had the motivation that Near didn't. Mello lived solely to defeat Near, though in the end, his efforts were useless.


Fears/Faults: His Inferiority complex, I think being second could count as a fear because he tries so hard not to be.


Anything else: He has a Beretta ( Kind of funny being a German gun.) in his posession. He also tends to act quick without thinking about his conscience. Technically, Mello is neutral because he didnt act until he joined the police or mafia.

Sample RP:

You'll never be first, you are only destined to be second. death will claw at you feet, gripping your ankles to pull you down into hell. There he would see the devil, satin, any other unholy thing that would abide to whatever you religion was.. But he could hear the voice of the unholy monster, screaming, yelling, grunting. Whatever a monster would do, but his intentions were clear so blunt they could hit you in the face it the words floated. "And, you will still. Be. Second". It was destined to be this way ever since you were conceived, Screaming is futile.

Mello shoved another piece of chocolate into his mouth he did it almost grudgingly, as if in a comforting way. He had been slightly side-tracked that day. Something had gotten to him he just couldn't put a gloved finger on it yet. He was standing there as if he was stuck, perhaps in an alternate universe... Nah, that was more of Matt's thinking. Maybe he was just frozen for the moment in the comfort of his own apartment. His daydream had sure caught him off guard, and his green eyes seemed to trail along the specks that formed on the table from various chocolate specks falling, to the open window with the rays of light shining through a dirty window. Oh how that icky, icky sun could look so different yet remain just as annoying.

He couldn't remember why he had wanted to leave, but something unnerving came to mind when he looked around his vacant apartment. Just.. Space thats what he needed at the moment. After finishing his chocolate bar, he threw the remains of the wrapper to the side to head outside wearing the usually attire. Leather pants, Leather jacket, Leather boots. What else would you expect to find Mello wearing?

Once he pushed open the squeaky door, and successfully locked he worked his way down the stairs. He just needed to get away from this place, it reeked of being only second best. But, of course Mello was never 'Second Best' he was always first. Always.

The sun never fails to show up at the worse times, once he was outside his eyes began to squint at the natural light. With his right hand extending into his pocket he pulled out a pair of black sun glasses, and he put them on pushing them up with his middle finger. Finding that the hidden sunlight was much more of a pleasure then the natural sun. With no actually place to go he headed down the street, everyone needs air once in awhile.
